David L. Kaufman, ACAS, MAAA
President and CEO
The Motorists Insurance Group
Dave Kaufman is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Motorists Insurance Group, which is an affiliated group of eleven property, casualty and life insurance entities doing business in 26 states with more than 5,000 independent insurance agents. Dave joined The Motorists Insurance Group in 1986 as an Actuarial Services Manager. Following Motorists’ affiliation with American Hardware in 1993, he assumed responsibilities of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the American Hardware Companies. After consolidating all financial functions of the group, he was named Vice President of the Commercial Lines Division for Motorists Mutual. In 1999, he became Vice President of the Information Systems Division and was promoted to Senior Vice President and CIO in 2000. He was elected Executive Vice President by the Motorists Mutual board of directors in April 2010. He was named Executive Vice President for all companies comprising The Motorists Insurance Group in April 2011. Dave was elected President and COO in April 2012, and became President and CEO on April 22, 2013.Dave is a member of the board of directors for Motorists Mutual Insurance Co., Motorists Life Insurance Co., MICO Insurance Co., Motorists Commercial Mutual Insurance Co., Iowa Mutual Insurance Co., Iowa American Insurance Co., Wilson Mutual Insurance Co. and Phoenix Mutual Fire Insurance Co. Dave graduated cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in both mathematics and economics while playing on the varsity basketball team. He has or is currently serving on the board of trustees for a number of charitable organizations including the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, Experience Columbus and the Law Enforcement Foundation, Inc. He is the founder and current president of Future Possibilities, Inc., a nonprofit organization that delivers life skills training programs for children. Dave and his wife, Nan, live in Worthington, Ohio, and are proud parents of three daughters. He enjoys all sports and actively golfs, skis, plays platform tennis and runs marathons.


Gareth Bowles
Netflix, Senior Build/Tools Engineer
Gareth started out as a developer and later graduated to breaking other people’s software instead of his own, before realizing that his real passion is getting software to customers faster, cheaper, and more reliably – and getting a good night’s sleep in the process. Gareth has practiced and managed quality engineering and technical operations at various Silicon Valley companies, from six-person startups to major industry players. He’s currently a member of the Engineering Tools team at Netflix, where he works on cloud automation and continuous integration tools that enable any engineer to build, test, and deploy the services that make up the Netflix movie and TV streaming operation.

Her passion is in discovering new techniques and creating environments that allow people to be most effective at what they do. Anna is an international conference speaker; she is a co-organizer of NYC Testers meetup and the member of STP Community Advisory Board.
Benjamin Winklerbenjamin winklerKelli Searfoskelli searfos Benjamin Winkler is a Test Engineer at CoverMyMeds, where he develops automated tests in Cucumber and Watir and coordinates the company’s intellectual property portfolio. In his spare time he practices law in Columbus.Kelli Searfos is a Test Engineer at CoverMyMeds, where she is working to build a better tomorrow… for testers. Passionate about software quality, she has worked in a variety of roles in her IT career, and has found that the approach to testing is different for each of them — leading to much confusion and, ultimately, a better understanding of how many ways there are to write tests. Now she strives to purge the world of Bad Tests, and spends her time trying to stop software bugs before they happen, making her a modern-day hero.
Damian Synadinosdamian synadinos Damian Synadinos started testing (on purpose, for money) in 1993. Since then, he has helped build better software and build software better using various methods and tools at numerous companies in diverse industries and a variety of roles. The past 10 years, he has focused on educating and leading testers, and continuous improvement. Currently, he is the metrics and reporting lead at Huntington Bank, helping answer questions and tell stories about quality with data. In addition to testing, Damian also enjoys improv, golf, poker, gaming, and spending time with his family.
Dmitry Sharkovdmitry sharkov  As a software development specialist at CareWorks Tech, Dmitry is a technical lead, trainer, and agile coach who lets nothing stop him from delivering amazing software. He is a firm believer that the right tools, skill set, and attitude make compromising quality completely unnecessary. Always seeking out ways to expand his own skills and toolbox while helping others do the same, Dmitry spends much of his time working on enterprise products, up-skilling developers and test engineers, and dabbling in the mobile and UX space.
Jess Lancasterjess lancaster Jess Lancaster is the QA Practice Manager at TechSmith, the makers of Snagit, Camtasia, and other visual communication software applications. He has over 17 years of testing and test leadership experience with government, financial, insurance, and commercial software organizations. Jess has spoken on software development and testing at several local meetups and conferences. He also serves as adjunct faculty for software testing at Lansing Community College and is the co-founder of Lansing Area Software Testers.
Jim Holmesjim holmes Jim is the VP for ALM and Testing at Falafel Software. He has been in various corners of the IT world since joining the US Air Force in 1982. He’s spent time in LAN/WAN and server management roles in addition to many years helping teams and customers deliver great systems. Jim has worked with organizations ranging from start ups to Fortune 100 companies to improve their delivery processes and ship better value to their customers. Jim’s been in many different environments but greatly prefers those adopting practices from Lean and Agile communities. When not at work you might find Jim in the kitchen with a glass of wine, playing Xbox, hiking with his family, or banished to the garage while trying to practice his guitar.
Joe DeMeyerjoe demeyer Joe DeMeyer has been a System Test Engineer at Progressive Insurance in Cleveland, OH for eight years leading many enterprise projects. With a current company wide focus on quality, Joe explores test strategies and test reporting, and works with testers to establish presence and credibility within projects. Before joining Progressive, Joe developed software for a small instrument company, and was a product engineer at Caterpillar Tractor. As a hobby, he designs, constructs, and most importantly tests small payloads that fly into the stratosphere on the end of a weather balloon. He has published articles in Tea Time with Testers and Sticky Minds, and spoke at STP Con in 2013.
Jon Krugerjon kruger Jon Kruger is an independent consultant in Columbus, OH. He specializes in software solutions, project leadership, and Agile coaching and training and has experience in a wide range of industries and environments. He uses his experience as a leader and software developer to find ways to create better quality software, improve the software development process, and maximize value for the business.
Joseph Bealejoe beale Joseph Beale is the Enterprise Quality Automation Lead for Huntington National Bank. He has worked in IT since 1996 and in Software Testing since 2002. Prior to that he worked in the world of insurance and finance for seven years, specializing in investments. He was born and raised in Columbus and has always lived in the area, doing his undergrad work at Ohio State and taking other courses and training as his interests dictated and his time allowed. In his personal time, he likes to read, hang out with friends, and spend time with his wife and seven children.
Joseph Oursjoseph ours With nearly two decades of career experience in Information Technology and Certified Project Management consulting, Columbus, Ohio-based Joseph Ours offers expertise as a leader in business processes with a successful record of providing project and portfolio management of large technology initiatives in multiple senior-level positions. He currently works with Centric Consulting, in the role of National Service Offering Lead for Software Testing & Quality Assurance Services. The strategy & technology company works with numerous Fortune 500 clients in strategy, technology and process, where Joseph commandeers its consulting efforts, including business development, practice management and client delivery. Joseph has served major clients such as Nationwide Insurance, Grange Insurance, State Auto Insurance, Motorists Mutual Group, BMW Financial Services, Kroger, Orange County Public Schools, LexisNexis, CareSource and Cardinal Health. He has also held roles at Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase), Cohesion, Davison Associates, Vitro Corp., and was an Electronic Warfare Technician with the United States Naval Service. He earned an MBA degree from Keller Business, and two Bachelor degrees: in Electronic Engineering Technology from World College, and in Technical Management from DeVry University. He is also PMP certified by the Project Management Institute. Within the community, Joseph is Chairman of the Columbus Advisory Council for Per Scholas, which aims to break the cycle of poverty by providing technology education, access, training and job placement services for people in underserved communities.
Justin Rohrmanjustin-rohrman Justin Rohrman is a consulting software tester with a day job. He has been performing software testing in various industries and capacities for close to 10 years now. Outside of his day job, Justin is an assistant or lead instructor for 3 of the four BBST courses offered by AST, frequent facilitator for Weekend Testing Americas, miagi-do black belt, and a writer. He writes often for ITKnowledgeExchange, Stickyminds, and his own personal blog.Justin is currently serving on the board for the Association for Software Testing as VP of Education and has active role in the BBST program and WHOSE.
Kelsey Shannahankelsey shannahan  Kelsey Shannahan is a consultant with Cohesion Corp., specializing in automated testing using Ruby.   She has been working in IT for 9 years, with 7 of those years focused on Quality Assurance and Testing.  Kelsey comes from a development background and has been able to use this knowledge to develop sustainable testing frameworks for clients.  In addition, she has conducted numerous training sessions, teaching the fundamentals of programming for automated testing and mentoring individuals to help them develop sound automation solutions.  Kelsey spends her free time pursuing her MBA at the Fisher College of Business.
Ken De Souzaken desouza Ken De Souza has been in software development for over 15 years, starting as a developer bent on automatically checking everything he built. Currently he is specializing in exploratory testing, with a passion for delivering high quality software at a rapid pace.
Larry Albrightlarry albright Larry Albright is an IT Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Lead in the Finance IT organization at Nationwide Insurance. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a Certified Software Quality Analyst (through QAI), and has two masters degrees from The Ohio State University. He is passionate about process improvement, software quality, metrics and data analysis.
Matthew Eakinmatt eakin Matthew is a Manager in the Sogeti Managed Testing Solutions practice. With over 20 years of technical, leadership and planning experience, Mr. Eakin bring a unique, thorough and comprehensive perspective to every project. His extensive expertise around all aspects of the SDLC combined with development skills has helped me to be an effective Agile practitioner and coach. Mr. Eakin talks extensively on Gherkin Scripting and is in high-demand as a BDD (Behavior-Driven Development)/ATDD (Acceptance Test Driven Development) coach. The two workshops he has created for Sogeti (Agile Testing and A Manual Testers Guide to the Ruby/Cucumber Framework) have been so successful that Mr. Eakin now leads the series nationally and teaches customized variations of the program at client sites.
Matthew Heussermatt heusser Perhaps best known for the Lean Software Testing/Lean Software Delivery methods, Matt Heusser was last year’s closing Keynote speaker. Involved in software delivery for his entire adult life. As the Managing Consultant at Excelon Development Matt teaches, consults, trains, and does software delivery while managing key accounts for the company. In addition to LST/LD, Matt was the lead editor for “How to Reduce the Cost of Software Testing” (Taylor and Francis, 2011) and writing a chapter for “Beautiful Testing” (O’Reilly, 2009), and the part-time editor for stickyminds.com.
Raj Subramanianraj-subramanian Raj Subramanian, a former developer for a payroll processing company, moved to testing to focus on his passion. Raj currently works as a test engineer for Progressive Insurance with a specific focus on mobile testing and establishing a enterprise wide test methodology. He actively contributes to the testing community by speaking at conferences, writing articles, blogging, and being directly involved in various testing-related activities. In Cleveland, Ohio, Raj serves on the board of a local conference group and is the co-organizer of a testers’ meet-up group.
Shaminder Raishaminder raiDave Patel Shaminder Rai is a passionate quality and test professional with 10+ years of experience in IT. Currently employed with Nationwide and leading the testing efforts for mobile applications.Dave Patel has two years of experience testing mobile applications. He is currently working on mobile test automation at Nationwide Insurance. 


Shawn Wallaceshawn wallace Shawn Wallace is an Architect and Application Development Service Offering Lead with Centric Consulting. In his job he helps customers strategically leverage technology improve their architectures. Shawn is a former U.S. Marine Infantryman, enjoys all things tech, learning things, building things, shooting sports and his family. He and his family lives in Grove City, Ohio. Todd Foxtodd fox QA Manager at Aver Informatics. Todd has twenty plus years of IT experience across multiple domains: academics, insurance, retail, dot.com startups, healthcare, and analytics. He’s spent the last 5+ years architecting, building, maintaining, and leading Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering teams for multi-billion dollar companies and for recently funded startups. He’s passionate about elegant, smart, stable, high performing software and an excellent customer/user experience. When not doing “software stuff”, Todd enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, volunteering in the community and with his church, and making/listening to punk/indie-rock.
